Dr Richard Sloan
BMedSci, BM, BS, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP, DPD
Dr Sloan is originally from Northern Ireland and attended Nottingham Medical School until 1984. He completed his GP training in York before moving to Edinburgh. It was while working there that he completed the diploma in Dermatology. He then moved to the west coast of Scotland where he worked in a community hospital as a GP providing acute medical care and involved in a rural skin clinic for ten years and performing regular skin surgery.
He is passionate about rural medicine and providing easy access to essential medical care in all its forms, and especially, with the aid of modern technology, providing a seamless transition between primary and secondary care.
During the past few years he has returned to Yorkshire to work as a GP, continuing his interest in dermatology and subsequently joining the Cumbria Medical Services team in early 2017.
He is married to Carol and has two teenage children and a springer spaniel dog. He enjoys sailing, tennis, sprint triathlons and exploring islands and hill walking.
