Dr Chaudhri is the clinical lead for CMS dermatology.
He trained at Barts, London and qualified in 1983. After several years in various hospital posts he undertook training in general practice. He was a GP principal in The Maryport Group Practice for 23 years until leaving in 2013 to establish Cumbria Medical Services
In 1992 he developed an interest in dermatology and worked in the hospital dermatology clinics until 2004 gaining experience in a vast range of dermatology presentations in the community. He has organized numerous teaching and training events for fellow GPs with particular emphasis on dermatology.
Having passed the diploma in dermatology examination in 2008 he has been accredited as a GPSI (GP with special interest) and has been providing a specialist dermatology service to patients referred by their GP since 2009. In the 12 months upto October 2017 the dermatology service has treated 4,750 new patients.
The service is supported by two consultant dermatologists, a dermatology nurse specialist and several other GPs who have attained the diploma in dermatology.
He is also passionate about patient support and teaching and has arranged public teaching sessions on eczema and psoriasis, which we hope to repeat. He was also instrumental in the appointment of an psoriasis expert patient worker to offer practical advice and psychological support to patients with psoriasis.
The service is involved in teaching and training GPs in training, established GPs and also practice nurses.
Dr Chaudhri is a Clinical Director of Cumbria Medical Services and is also the nominated individual for the Care Quality Commission.
